Blue House Holiday MittenMade Craft Show Recap!

Posted by Crystal Pepperdine, Founder and Executive Director of Flint Handmade

The MittenMade Holiday Craft Show at Blue House Ann Arbor was spectacular!  Thank you so much to Siobhan and Nicole for organizing such a cozy, friendly, happy event.

I was so excited for my Flint Handmade and beautiful JUNK display!  Our new FH vinyl banners are fabulous!

Nicole of Sloe Gin Fizz always has one of the most attractive and cohesive displays.  I just love her stuff!

I'm loving these fabric alphabet letter ornaments from Carrie of Burnt Desserts!

Lots of sweet raffle prizes!  Post a comment if you won something!

Oh, yes, my dears...those are, in fact, muffs on the far right.  Casey of Fartsy Arts is bringing back the muff!

Siobhan's stinkin' adorable fairy doors and shortie people!

Courtney of Courtney Fischer Jewelry always has such gorgeous necklaces and earrings.

All of the fabric colors and patterns used by Haley of Sweet Sugar Beet make me smile!

Stuffed owls and feather cat nip toys by Ashley of Butter Bean, Inc.  Gotta remember the puppies and kitties for the holidays!

I finally got to meet Jenni of TinkerDot Designs!  Her collages are so cute and colorful!

Me (l) and my little sis, April, in front of Elana's Little Sisters Jewelry.  Although I am older, my little sis is taller.  However, to be fair, she was rockin' heels and I was wearing flats, so she is not actually this much taller than me in real life! ;)

We heart Dylan's International Robot shirts!

Liz of Aromaholic also vended at the Flint Handmade Holiday Craft Market and her soaps continue to smell ridiculously tasty!

Marta of Marta England Designs had some of the most beautiful and intricate jewelry.

Excellent upcycled ornaments and other goods from Ashley and Angela of Again.

Fantastic photo blocks by Kate of Chicaloo Photography and More.

Lovely tea cozies and other knit treasures by Ashia of Needle Knots!

Doesn't the Flint Handmade Knuckles sticker just look so perfect with this little girl's coat and hat combo?!?

I had a wonderful time chatting with all of the shoppers and vendors at Holiday MittenMade!  Hope to do it again soon.  :)

MakersMEET @ The Blue House in Ann Arbor

Posted by Crystal

Well, dear blog readers, my flirtation is now a full-on love affair!

Every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30pm, The Blue House hosts MakersMEET, a casual evening where makers/artists/crafters work on their current creative project and hang out with other creative people.

I went to a MakersMEET in August and had a fantasic time!  Here are some photos from my visit to tempt you with all of the delicious craftiness:

The Blue House has the CUTEST signage!

Blue House Owner/Operator Siobhan was working on another fabulous sign during MakersMEET...

...didn't it turn out adorably?!?

Sarah was creating a pie stamp for blockprinting.  I can't wait to see the prints she creates!

Nicole of Slow Gin Fizz was adding whimsical little fabric spool embellishments to a dress that we coerced her into modeling for us!  ;)

I worked on FH buttons...and took pictures of the handmade shop inside The Blue House!  I snapped this pic of myself rockin' my Handmade Detroit shirt while photographing all of the crafty goodies for sale, some of which included...

...soap...

...purses...

...tiles...

...owls and reusable shopping bags...

...zippered pouches...

...baby bibs...

...and crocheted dish clothes!

I encourage all crafters in Southeast Michigan to check out The Blue House in Ann Arbor.  MakersMEET is a great night to go for your first visit!

And, while you are there, consider buying an official shirt to support The Blue House.  It features a great design screenprinted by Modati on a super comfortable unisex American Apparel shirt...all for only $18!

I got a shirt for me and one for my boyfriend.  But, I promise you'll never see us wearing them at the same time...that would just be too disgustingly cute.  :P

Craftacular Saturday: The Blue House and I aRt Festival

Posted by Crystal

At long last...the post about my craftacular Saturday at The Blue House in Ann Arbor and the I aRt Festival at The Marquee in Redford!  I took TONS of pictures, so this is going to be a lengthy post.  Consider yourself warned.  ;)

As I expected, both events were fantastic...great weather, great locations, great vendors!

I started at MittenMADE at The Blue House in Ann Arbor.  The Blue House is a gorgeous handmade studio and consignment shop.

They have the most beautiful gardens on the property...

...and the cutest pennant banner on the porch!

Immediately upon entering, I saw these fabulous red earrings by Designs by Arielle and Pamela.

I met Marcy at the Sunday Artisan Market in Kerrytown last year.  I think her line of All Things Grow prints are so fresh and calming.

The adorable kitchen at The Blue House.  I love that farmhouse sink!

Stephanie of Always the Forest and her racks of amazing handmade clothes.

Whitney was the sweetest gal!  And her line of Whitney Crutchfield Hand-Printed Textiles were also very sweet.

I always love Nicole's display for Sloe Gin Fizz.  Those pennant banners are just too cute!

I am madly in love with the letterpress stationary from Elevated Press.

Michelle from Elevated Press smiles behind her sweet and simple table display.  The Vernor's box and open suitcase are perfect!

Allie of Mitten Made crochets while she vends.  It makes me smile when I see vendors working on projects at craft shows.  :)

I love like things.  I especially love like things all lined up in rows.  I could stare down the aisles of a library all day long.  I could stare at these gorgeous crocheted flower brooches from Mitten Made even longer.  I bought one in olive green to jazz up my winter coat.

How clever is this???  Allie, I am sooooo jealous of your ingenious idea!

Danielle from threesixfive had the cutest little chair display next to her table.

Awesome soldered charms by Nichole of The Little Craft Closet.

Siobhan (l) and Marcy (All Things Grow) enjoying the beautiful porch.  Siobhan (pronounced sha-VON) is the owner/operator of The Blue House.  She is my handmade hero!

Finally, I bid adieu to The Blue House and headed for the I aRt Festival in Redford at The Marquee...

...but you'll have to wait until next week for me to finish the story!  BWAHAHAHA!  Crafty Cliffhanger, much!

In the meantime, you can get a craft fix at CrafterLot this Saturday, August 14 at The Blue House!  "Love local.  Support handmade."  We couldn't agree more!
