May craftLAB: Quilling!

Join us for a FREE Quilling Workshop at craftLAB on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from noon-3pm at The Lunch Studio!

Learn the basics of the coiled papercraft known as quilling from Flint Handmade Founding Member Jenni Snyder!

VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE BRING A QUILLING TOOL.

You can make one yourself with a wine cork and large hand needle or you can buy one from a craft supply store. 

We will have some corks and needles on hand for those who want to make their quilling tools at craftLAB, but it might take a while for the glue to dry and we want to make sure we have lots of time to quill!

All other supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any of your own papercrafting or quilling supplies (including scissors, scrapbook paper, etc.) if you would like to use them!

Last year, Flint Handmade participated in the [IN]spire Conference hosted by University Outreach at the University of Michigan-Flint, which focused on creativity, innovation and social entrepreneurship.

This year, University Outreach's Innovation Incubator is hosting FREE business entrepreneurship workshops that are open to community members!

November craftLAB: Altered Art Papercrafts with Nicole Stevens!

Join us for a FREE Altered Art Papercrafts Workshop at craftLAB on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from noon-3pm at The Lunch Studio!

Nicole Stevens of Curious Goods will be teaching us basic techniques that can be used to make greeting cards, ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), and/or inchies.

We will have general supplies available, but feel free to bring old magazines, scrapbook paper, markers, stamps or any other specific papercrafting supplies you want to use!

This is going to be a great craftLAB for children, so feel free to bring your kids, your nieces and nephews, your grandkids or the neighbor's kids!

Basic Crocheting Workshop @ craftLAB on June 5, 2011!

Join us for a FREE Basic Crocheting Workshop at craftLAB on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from noon-3pm at The Lunch Studio!

Sarah Richter (aka Sarah Mascara) of yarnscratch will be teaching us how to make a crochet stitch sampler.

The crochet sampler above starts with the chain stitch and then goes on with 3 rows of single crochet, 3 of half-double crochet, and 3 of double crochet.

We will have some supplies available, but please bring cotton yarn and a hook (Size H-J) if you can!

Sarah will also explain how to switch colors when crocheting and, if time permits, get us all started on making a cotton dishcloth!

She hopes to have the time to show us how to crochet in the round, too.  If you ever want to crochet a doily, round pot-holder, or toys, that's the first step!
